Elrond, a permissionless L1 blockchain powered by a scalable sharding architecture
Elrond is a permissionless layer-1 blockchain network which features a novel sharding architecture called “adaptive-state-sharding”. This is a dynamically adaptive sharding mechanism that enables shard computation and organization based on the number of active nodes.
As a consequence of its sharding architecture, Elrond is highly scalable and can in theory process more transactions than Visa.
eGOLD (EGLD) is Elrond’s native cryptocurrency and this can bestaked by running a validator node or by delegating it to other validators.
Elrond is developed by Elrond Network, a private company based in Malta.
